84% of people have witnessed or experienced homophobia in sport, and we need support now more than ever to help stop this discrimination.
As one of the only organizations working at the intersection of sports and social justice, Athlete Ally has been an instrumental force in fostering greater acceptance and protection of the LGBTQ community in sport and under the law. But, we know we have our work cut out for us, and we’ll need help to achieve the full dignity and protection of the LGBTQ community.
Here’s what we’re up against?
Over a dozen anti-LGBTQ bills set to be introduced in 2018 state legislative sessions
Sport governing bodies excluding trans athletes due to their gender identity
A significant lack of representation of women in leadership roles in athletics
A country divided on the role of athletes in speaking out for social justice issues
There remain countless examples demonstrating how critical our work is. We’re looking for people to Get in the Game and support a world where LGBTQ players, fans, coaches, officials and administrators are respected and protected.
We need greater visibility of our organization and the critical work we’re doing as we approach the end of the year, hitting our budget, and maximizing our potential in 2018. We’re open to talking about what that potential support may look like.
